Dr. Colleen Stearns currently serves as the Vice President of Curriculum & Instruction at IDEA Public Schools, the fastest-growing charter school network in the United States. In this role, Colleen leads the curriculum development of ELA, mathematics, science, social studies, and Spanish in Kindergarten through 12th grade across 140 schools in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, and Ohio. In addition to curriculum development, Colleen’s team designs and implements all district, state, and national assessments and designs CTE programming for IDEA College Prep schools across four states.

Prior to her current role, Colleen was a PK-12 teacher, Reading Specialist, dyslexia interventionist, campus administrator, district program coordinator, and curriculum designer.

Colleen also serves as a University Supervisor at Concordia University Texas, coaching and evaluating Advanced Literacy interns who are completing their MEd in Advanced Literacy and pursuing the Texas Reading Specialist Certification, and she teaches graduate level courses in Elementary Methods, Secondary Social Studies, Secondary English Language Arts, and Reading Specialization. She is also a Curriculum Auditor with the Curriculum Management Solutions, Inc. and has served on audit teams across the United States.

Colleen earned her B.A. at Southwestern University, and her M.Ed. in Educational Administration and M.Ed. in Advanced Literacy at Concordia University Texas, as well as an Ed.D. in Curriculum & Instruction at Concordia University Texas with a focus on effective professional development for Advanced Placement mathematics and science teachers.
