Shelley Wells
Shelley Wells began her journey in education, serving as a special education paraprofessional while pursuing her teaching degree. Upon completion, she moved into the classroom where she taught 4th-grade English Language Arts and two years as a self-contained 4th-grade teacher in Klein ISD. In her desire to help the growing number of students who came to her reading well below grade level, she pursued and received her Master of Science in Reading. Mrs. Wells went on to serve as a Reading Interventionist at Conroe ISD focusing on at-risk kindergarten-2nd grade students before coming to Splendora. In Splendora ISD, she served as the Reading Specialist at Peach Creek Elementary. She then moved into her current role as the District Early Literacy Coordinator.
Mrs. Wells received her Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies from Western Governors University and her Master of Science in Reading from Arkansas State University. She is passionate about literacy and constantly reads about the latest research or listens to podcasts to help support her understanding of best practices in literacy education.
