Jennifer Jordan serves as Assistant Commissioner of Special Education and Intervention Programs for the Tennessee Department of Education.

Previously, Jennifer served as Senior Director of Instruction and Intervention for the department. Before that, Jennifer worked as the Director of Literacy and Instructional Interventions for the Lauderdale County School District in Ripley, Tennessee.  In this role, Jennifer supported K-12 instructional supervisors and school leaders with implementing the district’s literacy plan and served as the lead of the Response to Instruction and Interventions (RTI2) program.  Her almost 30 years as an educator spans special education classroom teacher, instructional mentor, school psychologist, literacy consultant, national professional development facilitator, and district leader.

Jennifer earned a Doctorate in Literacy and Reading from Capella University.  She also holds an Educational Specialist Degree in School Psychology and a Masters of Special Education from the University of Memphis.  Her Bachelor’s degree is from Union University.
