Since July 2019, Michael Lach has been the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment at Township High School District 113, a small high school district on the outside of Chicago. Dr. Lach began his career as an educator in 1990, and spent nine years teaching high school science in New Orleans, New York City, and Chicago. He then turned to administration, lead-ing teaching and learning in a variety of roles for the Chicago Public Schools for nearly a decade. During the first year of the Obama administration, he coordinated STEM education work at the U. S. Department of Education, and then spent eight years teaching, conducting research, and providing technical assistance focusing on large scale K-12 mathematics and science improvement efforts at the University of Chicago.
